A coat for the cold months

The coat falls straight and steady from the shoulder to the hem, which ends just above the knee. The lapel sits as a narrow angle at the neck and closes at the front edge with three buttons. The sleeves run straight down and finish without a cuff.

Design Highlights

Two seams run from the chest to the hem and hold the front flat, which keeps the long line from swinging wide. Two pockets sit at the side at the height a hand falls, and the flap across each one keeps the surface even. A vent at the back opens as you walk, so the coat does not pull across the legs. The lapel turns down into a clean edge and frames the neck, and the shoulders are set squarely so the coat keeps its shape over a knit rather than collapsing at the seam.

How to Style It

Over a fine knit and straight trousers it reads sharp enough for a working morning. With a midi skirt and a low boot it turns softer for the evening. Keep the layers underneath close to the body so the long line stays long, and let the buttons carry the front on their own.

A long coat that keeps its shape and its line through winter.
