Let the foot do what it was built to do

Most shoes hold the foot in a shape it does not have. This pair does the opposite: the toe box is cut wide enough for the toes to spread, the sole is thin and flexible, and the upper is soft leather that gives as the foot moves.

Design Highlights

The wide toe box is the centre of the design. With room to spread, the toes can carry their share of the weight instead of the whole load landing on the ball of the foot, which is what makes a long day on hard ground easier. The sole is kept thin so the foot reads the ground underneath and adjusts, and it bends along its length rather than staying rigid. The leather upper softens with wear and takes the shape of the foot rather than pressing it into another one. A non slip tread underneath keeps the step steady.

How to Style It

With wide trousers and a knit it reads as a plain everyday shoe. Against jeans and a light coat it stays quiet at the foot. Keep the hem short enough to show the ankle, and let the plain leather surface be the only detail in the look.
