Step in and start the day

This shoe does without laces altogether. The entry opens along a zip at the side, and elastic gussets at the edge of the tongue give way as the foot goes in. Once it is on, the foot sits quietly inside and the morning stays uncomplicated.

Design Highlights

The toe is rounded and cut wide, so the toes have room to sit beside each other instead of pressing together. Clear seams run across the vamp and hold the upper in shape, which keeps the surface from going flat after a few wears. The zip sits far enough back to stay out of the way when the shoe is on, and the sole is profiled along its length so the step lands steadily on smooth ground as well as on gravel. The lining stays soft against the foot through a long day.

How to Style It

With straight jeans and a knit it reads as a plain everyday shoe. Against wide trousers and a long coat it keeps the step quiet and grounded. Keep the hem short enough to show the ankle, and let the zip do the work instead of a lacing detail. A plain sock in the same tone keeps the ankle quiet.

A slip on for the mornings when there is no time to think.
